Analysis of Complex Flow on Steel Plates in the Cooling Process Using MPS Method

In steel making processes, cooling processes are widely used. In the process of cooling steel plates by spraying, the complex flow of sprayed water on the plates affects the non-uniformity of cooling. In order to understand this complex flow behaviour, flow analysis using the particle method (MPS) was investigated. A method to perform engineering practical calculations with relatively large particle size was studied. It was found that, especially when the flow velocity on the steel plate is high, the spacing between the calculated particles becomes large, causing the fluid to pass through, which does not actually occur. By conducting experiments in the same system as the calculations and observing the behaviour of the water on the plate, the modelling of the particle method to represent the real phenomena was studied in detail.
